Next meetings: April 6th 6PM Warren County Fairgrounds

Hi everyone, I know I said we were going to try out bi monthly newsletters, but we have some important information for everyone. We had Ed Wade, the club insurance agent, at the last meeting. Here is some information for all: By being a club member, you are covered should you be involved in an accident and someone sues, but you can still be sued personally (basically if you get in an accident at work you can be sued personally and as an employee), so make sure your own insurance is up to par. Also, check to see if you have an HO 2413 Form on your insurance, this provides protection for you when you take your tractor off your property. It is probably $25-50 a year, but it is something you should look into. I know that was wordy, but that is the gist of our talk with Ed, and we want to provide all of you with this information so you can make sure you’re covered enough or if there was something you missed you can check into it

Also, tractor pulling rules clarification (and I accept some responsibility in this), I reported a while back that your wheelie bars could not be attached to the hitch at all, actually the main tube must touch the axle housing (a straight line from pad to axle housing), but side to side can be braced off the hitch frame for side to side support. If you have a later John Deere this is pretty easy (three point mounts would work well for that), and if you have questions get ahold of me and we’ll try to get the pulling committee to look at what you have or offer advice on how to make them better. Also, the clevis/D ring must have a 3” hole and have more than one bolt holding it to the drawbar (like how a hammer strap mounts with 2 bolts ahead of the hooking point), and there are 2 chances to move the sled with no distance limit, if you can’t move the sled in 2 tries that’s it, and no deliberate stops still

We heard that David Brown is in the hospital with a leaking heartvalve, we send our wishes to him for a speedy recovery

We had our first Jumpstart program winner at the meeting, Kevin Leichliter, and he had an update on his Model A John Deere, the transmission has been gone through, the block and pistons are back, so it sounds as though he is on track to have it running at Oeder’s if not sooner this year. If you have a child who meets the program guidelines and has a project you should get ahold of me for a form, the guidelines are:

Ø Family must be current club member

Ø Applicant age 14-18

Ø Project must be older than 25 years old

Ø You must provide a description of the project, what direction you are taking it (paint only/mechanical/full restoration) with some details, and a photo of the project

Ø Provide an itemized list of the parts and costs of the project

Ø Show up to a meeting in January-May and July to give updates on the project

Ø Show project the next year (even incomplete)

Ø Provide information on other activites you are involved in (school/4H/etc) and parent/guardians information

All we need is the form, and the committee will pick a winner in September at the show, just let me know and I’ll send a form to you, I know we have some members kids in the age bracket, I’m sure they want to work on something and this is a way of helping them with the painful part ($$$) J

We’re going to hopefully have some show dates soon, our problem is we call people about a date and they have not decided, our show is September 11-14, and there are the fair dates, but otherwise we’re still waiting on dates to be settled. Till next time, best wishes, and here is a picture of Kevin’s A for you all, hope everyone’s projects are going well too J
